MMA Fight Shorts: Should You Choose Closed Shorts Over Splits Shorts?
Posted by Vernon
D Southard asked:

Were you considering about acquiring few straggle boxer shorts for your MMA? Does your personal combination of MMA include: Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling? Besides, are you in a dilemma wondering as to which would accommodate you more adept the split seams or the closed seams? Go through the following before coming to a decision!

In case, it is a Mixed Martial Arts combo that includes Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling that you practice, it is most effective that you opt for Closed and No split shorts! Since you won’t be executing whatsoever high kicks, besides you will be in constant reach with your adversary, where there is a bit much chance of getting the shorts arrested under your challenger, go for Closed MMA Shorts! Nonetheless, without any split, and all the same to get the maximized total freedom of motility, pick out the briefer shorts which don’t come down onto the thigh the least bit.

In person, a few people favor the ones having no slits but even so come with expansion panels, similar to the variety Clinch gear produces. In them, you have virtually every last the mobility of the split shorts (as 99% of it unless you are doing head kicks with somebody a good deal taller than you); in addition, they don’t have the split that can be grabbed in places.

Many MMA pros also opine that Clinch gear makes the most well fixed fight back shorts of all time to be gotten into. They are bar tacked in strategically places for bestowed enduringness; feature High-density Super Stretch nylon-based expansion panels on the sides and crotch that provides level best tractability; also boasts Triple-needle flat fell (lap seam) stitching on center back, inseam, and sidelong panels for lasting wear!

However, in the end it is up to your own penchant. Many pros have both types. Those who are more frequently a high kicker choose the split shorts. All the same, please note that your antagonist could catch split shorts largely whilst you are grappling. So, while you do just MMA, wear the splits that yield a lot of flexibility; besides, they look stylish if you’re a kicker. You have a bit additional motility in the shorts with split lines. The downside to them is the “flapping” could be caught underneath your opponent.

Moreover, while practicing jiu-jitsu grappling, bear the no split brand!

Not sure what type of apparel or gear you really need? No problem, head online. Search for MMA forums by opening your browser to Google.com and searching for, “MMA forum” or ” MMA discussion board” and see which ones turn up. Then review ones that look active, meaning there are current posts dated today and daily in the past; i.e. don’t choose an inactive board that only has like 100 posts and no one has been there to continue for three years, etc. That’s a dead board - or a start up, if the dates are current.

The Need for a Sports Marketing Company
Posted by Vernon
manstone asked:

Lets begin with a sport. Say wrestling, way back in the 80s and 90s wrestling was a dominant sport in the United Sates. Major promotions like the World Championship of Wrestling and the World Wrestling Entertainment promoted the event through various house shows. Later these events were broadcasted through the television media and look where the game stands today. Even in India every single household has a member dedicated to the sport. A small example is that of the “Great Khali” who has held the world heavyweight championship. And this was only possible because of a Sport Marketing Company. Titan Sports in collaboration with TNT did the trick. According to W.Shank (Sports Marketing Executive ) “Sport Marketing refers to specific application of marketing principles and process to Sports product and marketing of non stop products that associate with sports”. Products associated with sports include various things like Player Endorsements, testimonials, event marketing and stadium advertising. All in all it raises the money involved with the game and hence the standard of the game on a whole.

Lets take the case of a Sports Marketing Company in India. In India the game that gets the maximum amount of attention is cricket. When the inaugural world cup was held way back in 1975, a player of the Indian Cricket Team at the most earned a sum of Rs 2000 for a one day match and 1500 per day for a test match. Forward to the year 2008. A player with the smallest contract is paid approx. RS 35,000/ for a one-day series and Rs 40,000/ per day for a test match. This was only possible as people started taking interest in the game. Television channels, newspapers, advertisement hoardings all took required measures to make the game immensely popular. Commercials aired on TV featured players endorsing brands or commodities that were popular with the general public, thereby making these players household names. If a Survey is conducted on the top 5 richest sports persons in Asia, the names would undoubtedly be Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly, Sania Mirza, Vishwanathan Anand and Shoaib Akhtar. Technically speaking the survival of a sports marketing company is in the hands of it’s promoters, i.e the companies that sponsor the sport event.

Generally speaking the functioning and more importantly the success of the sports marketing company lies in the hand of it’s partner. Good publicity of a player is needed. This is where a public relation agency is needed. As sports is primarily into entertainment a media and entertainment company is also needed. Going by the current standards the two biggest sports marketing companies in India NEO sports and Nimbus were recently formed and in no time has had a good grip in all sporting events in India. Currently in India sports marketing is a multi billion dollar industry. Players such as Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Sania Mirza and many more are finding ways to make millions of rupees. They are getting outstanding deals to wear clothing during events, or do a commercial, or a photo shoot for and advertisement. New content distribution channels like the Web, email, voice messaging, streaming video and mobile are creating many new opportunities and challenges for sports marketers who formerly found newspapers, daily/weekly magazines and television as a channel for promotion. Due to growth of the industry and to support the demands for employees numerous institutions have opened up Sports Marketing as a subject. All in all with passing times, the demand of a sports marketing firm has become extremely high.

Training for Wrestling
Posted by Vernon
Cristi asked:

The wrestling training plays a very important role in shaping a wrestler, the amount of time he/she spends in training and practicing in summation will show up at their performance.

The following steps can be helpful for getting started with wrestling practice:

Work out the posterior chain muscles

The posterior chain is the powerful area of the body that comprises the glutens, and hamstrings, is a key section to concentrate on for overall wrestling performances. There shall be will notice a marked improvement in speed and power in the neutral and bottom positions once strength improves in these areas. Some really good exercises to enhance the posterior chain are good-mornings, stiff-leg dead lifts, dead lifts, barbell squats (bar low on shoulders). For ultimate in working out the posterior chain muscles, reverse hyperextension and the Russian glute-ham-gastroc machine are advised.

Wrestle fast

Wrestlers those that try to move a barbell quickly in their workouts use momentum to help move the weight. To wrestle fast one should minimize the momentum, and maximize the amount of muscle that gets worked by slowing down. It depends on fast or slow one move a weight during the strength training.

Building up the protein

You need to add on proteins rather than carbs, whether you are trying to cut weight or go up a weight class, you need regular feedings of protein. Protein helps to repair and rebuild the muscle tissues. It is vital to keep up protein feedings if you are trying to cut weight unless of course you don’t mind losing muscle and getting weaker. The difference lies in the carbohydrate intake. If you need to lose weight, you should begin slowly dropping carbs, but never completely. You can’t wrestle if you don’t have energy to burn. Carbohydrates are you body’s preferred source of energy.

National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - a Great Vacation and Travel Destination
Posted by Vernon
Robert Benjamin asked:

All you wrestling fans out there who aren’t quite sure what to do for their next vacation should plan a visit to Oklahoma City. That’s because the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum is located in Oklahoma City and it is a must see for anyone who enjoys wrestling. Here you will learn about wrestling’s past, its present, and the plans for the future.

It is such an educational trip not to mention enjoyable that individuals who aren’t that big on wrestling will probably even enjoy it. There really is a lot to learn because the sport of wrestling did not begin with the WWF - WWE. Instead, the sport had a much more modest beginning and the museum celebrates this as well as all the leaps and bounds the sport has made in popularity since.

When you head to the museum make sure you plan on arriving Monday through Friday 9 am until 4:30 pm or else by appointment on the weekends. Within the Museum you will see the Paul K. Scott Museum of Wrestling History, the John T. Vaughan Hall of Honors, Gable/Smith Room, FILA International Hall of Fame, William S. Heins Jr. Library, Cliff Keen Theater, as well as others. You will learn so much about wrestling that you never knew before when you visit the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.

When you visit Oklahoma City you will also find many other things to enjoy. You can play golf, go shopping, enjoy seeing professional sports games, and even more. Oklahoma City is the most populous city in the state of Oklahoma so there are lots of things for tourists to do and see here. You will love the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum as well as everything else there is to see and do.

There is a website that has great information on USA Vacations and Unique Travel Spots Listed State By State and Season, the website is called: Seasonal Vacation Spots, and can be found at this url:

Play and Train Your Cat at the Same Time
Posted by Vernon
Jay Schindler asked:

You may think that cats are very aloof, independent and likely untrainable to do some tricks, but think again. With the proper training habits and system, you will engage them in every fun activity you may like especially during playtime.

Kittens love to play as well as adult cats. But they want you to interact with them during playtime.

There are four games they love to play.

•    wrestling with their co-felines or a toy; •    scooping fish in the floor or any toy will do; •    bird swat, and; •    prey pouncing.

You do not have to worry if your kittens wrestle with each other. It is definitely normal in their behavior and they are not likely to hurt each other. You can join the fun but see to it that you wear protective gloves.  Scooping a fish literally means finding an object on the floor. They will scoop it over their shoulders, turn it up side down and pounce it. Similarly, in prey pouncing, they would use an imaginary prey or you can make a toy for this game, and they will run and try to catch it. When they do, they pounce on it. Usually, it is their mother cat’s tail or your shoe or even another kitten.

Cats love to reach for dangling objects and toys. When they are successful in getting it, they smash it with one paw and finish off the prey. This is the bird swat game.

The difference in these games is that they are best with people’s interaction. Oftentimes, cat’s toys are free and you can readily make them but again, PARTICIPATION in the games is crucial.

Like in scooping a fish game, you can make your cat a toy with a feather string and a stick. You can enjoy watching your cat as he leaps for it. Once in a while let him get the thing so that he will not be easily bored.

Another good toy for cats is the classic crumpled paper. You can use it like a ball. Hide it behind your back, show it to your cat, and throw it. See how amazingly he will chase and tear it into pieces. Another handmade toy you can make for him is to cut up fuzzy pipe cleaner or make it into a ball and enjoy the same reaction from him as he chases and pounces on it it.

A popular toy that cats also enjoy is the grocery paper bag. You can do a lot of tricks to the bag and see how it can be fun.

Playing with your cats can be a totally hilarious and exciting experience.

History of Wrestling
Posted by Vernon
RecruitCity asked:

The history of wrestling can easily be traced back to its roots in the Mediterranean. The Ancient Greeks and Romans are credited with developing a number of different styles of wrestling that are still in use today. The sport is easily one of the most primitive sports that can be easily dated back to some five thousands years ago. Ancient Greeks formed the sport out of necessity as it was a means of training and developing soldiers into warriors. They used it in hand to hand combat which also doubled as a means of cardiovascular exercise. Ancient drawings and hieroglyphs mark the walls of some of the great Greek Palaces and stadiums with pictures of ancient wrestlers.

Wrestling history became a means of culture and a right of passage for the early Greeks. Students used to study wrestling as a class during school. It was a respected form of physical activity that took the utmost strength and grace but when used with aggression is a deadly form of combat. In the earliest of Olympic Festivals wrestling took place around 704 B.C. It was common to travel to villages throughout the country and see carnivals and festivals featuring wrestling in some form as entertainment.

As the Roman Empire rose to power and defeated the Greeks the form of wrestling that the Greeks had created began to change. The Greeks felt that the Romans weren’t as adept at wrestling and took the grace and skillfulness out of the sport and the Greeks were worried about maintaining the true history of wrestling. The new conversion of the two empires hence formed Greco-Roman wrestling.

As time passed the sport made its way west and suddenly became popular in the US. It made the same circulation that it made throughout Europe as it traveled from festivals and circuses as a spectator sport. The sport in these days allowed competitors of any size or shape to match up against any opponent. As you can imagine there was some drastic mismatches and severe injuries. Not to mention that gambling on the matches brought out the worst in the athletes as a number of fixed contests were uncovered.

It wasn’t until the formation of the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles or FILA that the sport began to standardize and formulate rules and the sport was first featured in the 1904 Olympics in St. Louis in the form of freestyle.

Wrestling began to become mainstream throughout the states in the 1900’s and found its way onto school campuses. High school wrestling and collegiate programs began to spring up everywhere and are standard throughout the US today.

Professional wrestling can basically be categorized today into two main forms international or non folk style and folk style wrestling. International consists mainly of Greco-roman, freestyle and grappling while folk style literally means the wrestling recognized in the area of origin. Examples of folk style are jiu jitsui of Brazil and sumo of Japan not to mention dozens of other less notable styles.

Wrestling has come a long way from its early roots but has kept in tact a number of the same techniques and strategies that made it popular five thousand years ago. The sport has seen a recent explosion in the MMA or mixed martial arts field which features a combination of a number of wrestling fields. The sport is growing rapidly and is sure to be a favorite of many more generations. So goes the history of wrestling.

Reaching the Next Level in Hockey Through Training the Burggraf Way
Posted by Vernon
Wrist Exercise asked:

Reaching the Next Level in Hockey through Training is one of a series of articles written by successful athletes and or trainers for Gripstik that briefly acknowledge the importance of work…hard work off the court or ice in order to accomplish your goals. These days, cross training is necessary for all sports to strengthen all the “weak links” in your personal program. Thanks go out to Frank Burggraf from “Buggraf Skating Skills Training School” for this discussion.

To reach the next level of play in any sport takes more than just practice.

In hockey, there are many skills to master in order to impact the game. Skating is the single most important aspect, but forearm stability and strength on the stick are very important as well. In every game there is a battle between one, two or three skaters on the puck. The ability to exert power and strength over your opponent becomes increasingly more important the higher the level of play. A player needs to possess very strong forearm strength and stability while maintaining a balance between range of motion, endurance, quickness and speed, all while carrying the puck, protecting the puck, or battling an opponent for the puck. Too many times we see young High School or junior skaters coming out of exercise programs that focus solely on the weight room for power and strength. Unknowingly, they have increased their power at the sacrifice of their “fluidity”.

Focused training specific to the puck control, shooting and stick handling skills that employ the stick stability and strength is critical for a player to develop. Quick hands, soft hands, and feathered passing with control of the stick should be the goal of all young skaters to develop. The Quick Released shot, with a short delivery will give the skater a huge advantage in the scoring lanes.

We have found that the GripStik is unique in our developmental programs for what it offers the skater. The workouts balance out the need for endurance while working the muscle recruitment for the quick twitch muscle firing skills. It allows the extensors and flexors of the forearm to be targeted with the simulated muscle movements that hockey demands from its players. The Gripstik does not bring in heavy resistance training. Instead, it is specific to the requirements of the game of hockey and covers all of the needs of the sport.

To make the next level of play, a player must improve in all his weaknesses and improve upon his strengths. There is not a lot of difference between most players at one level. It would be in the best interest of each skater to add or gain an advantage over the opponent. We have seen great results in our clients using the Gripstik. From the NHL down to the ****** player, all gain from specific, targeted training and the Gripstik is an important aspect of our ability to bring a skater to the next level of play…..

The Softer Side of Kevin Randleman
Posted by Vernon
Phoenix Delray asked:

Kevin The Monster Randleman, one of the shining stars in the world of mixed martial arts, has several different sides that fans of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) may not see. Sure, he is the former heavyweight champion of the UFC and many opponents think twice before getting in the right with him. Still, in addition to having many wins to his name, Kevin Randleman is also a father, husband and son.

Born on August 10, 1971 in Columbus, Ohio, Kevin Randleman always loved sports. At a young age he got involved in wrestling and martial arts, eventually graduating from Sandusky High School and going on to attend Ohio State University. While at Ohio State, Kevin Randleman joined the wrestling team, competing at the weight of 177 pounds. At five feet, ten inches tall, Kevin Randleman went on to take home two Division I NCAA championship titles. Basically, out of the four years he was in college, Kevin Randleman was the American wrestling champion in his class for half of the time. Impressive, to say the least.

Kevin Randleman is one of the biggest opponents of steroid and other performance enhancing drug use, speaking out against drugs on a regular basis. During a fight in Brazil in 1997, Kevin Randleman lost his first match ever to Carlos Barretto. To this day, he swears that there were shady circumstances surrounding the fight. Specifically, he claims that they other fighters were using steroids and continued to throw strikes at him while outside of the cage.

Until recently, Kevin Randleman has been plagued by kidney trouble, a horrible staph infection and an addiction to painkillers that had been prescribed to help him recover from his numerous surgeries. Fortunately, he has since recovered and in May of this year he made his grand comeback, defeating Ryo Kawamura in a unanimous victory. In 2004, he was both inducted into the Ohio State Hall of Fame and awarded the title of the 2004 Knock Out of the Year by sportsbook.com.

Kevin Randleman has been married to his wife, Elizabeth, for several years now. He also has two children: an 18 year old son named Calvin and a 10 year old daughter neamed Jasmine Capri. Calvin is clearly taking after his famous father, as he took his high school football team to the regional finals in Ohio. Currently, Calvin is continuing his football career at Ashland University.
